Successful design results from the careful consideration of many factors.

Color. Infinite color possibilities can make color selection an overwhelming task. Color not only impacts the visual aesthetics of a space but also how we feel in it: happy, anxious, calm or even hungry.

Materials. There are almost as many options for materials as for colors, and new materials become available daily. Material selection should be made not only on an aesthetic basis, but with a lot of thought given to safety, durability, maintenance and longevity.

Function. A beautiful space that does not provide you with enough task room, the proper lighting, or that is simply uncomfortable to use, is worthless. Well designed spaces should be easy to move about in, should perform the functions you have allocated to them, and be pleasing to the eye.

Personality. It should be obvious to anyone walking into your space that it is YOURS. Quality design honors that which you love, whether it is a painting that makes you smile, your grandmother’s antique chair, a collection of treasured books or a beautiful view of your garden.

Architectural style. Although a designer should be able to assimilate diverse styles of furnishings and other elements, it is important for an interior to reflect the overall style and structure of a space.

One final note: We aren’t fans of trends, simply because they quickly become outdated. While we would love to return every year to “update” your look, our goal is to give a space a sense of timelessness in its personality. However, we do encourage you to find elements of styles you like in current (and old) design books and magazines. This can become a great starting point for your new and improved space.
